BigWhiteShogun Breathtaking, astonishing, marvellous and just simply wonderful ost i heard lately :) Magnificent piece of work definitely worth my money. Favorite track: Cloud Colony Arrival.
Revy Belette
Revy Belette thumbnail
Revy Belette what can I say? it's McConnell, versatile as ever. this waxes more heavily orchestral/cinematic in sound than a lot of his previous game work and I'm not the least bit displeased with the result.
while the title track is still #1 in my book in its simplicity, I personally find the rather creatively-composed "space-related" tracks more interesting overall.
really enjoyable album; meshed well with the game, IMO. Favorite track: Broken Age - Vella Wakes.

Andrew Stewart-Ebert This music is beautiful and charming. It often evokes McConnell's also-excellent Psychonauts score, as well as an old favorite of mine, his Indiana Jones And The Fate of Atlantis score. At the same time, it also frequently makes me vaguely think of old Disney films, which--though it's a very corny thing to say--kind of makes me feel like a kid again. Favorite track: Welcome to Meriloft.

about

From Peter McConnell - Composer

The score to Broken Age began with some background art of Vella's village and the spaceship, along with the simple idea that all the musical sound should be as live as possible. This idea grew into something none of us could have imagined: a live score featuring the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and a small ensemble of San Francisco musicians. I am grateful to all who helped make this a reality, especially to Andrew Pogson at MSO, to Brian Min and Camden Stoddard at Double Fine Productions, to my family, and to Tim Schafer for creating such an incredible game.

From Camden Stoddard - Music Supervisor

Broken Age was a very interesting and demanding musical challenge to say the least. The themes and character journeys in Tim Schafer's wonderful story had a very wide spectrum of emotion. Shades of darkness smoothly blend into surprising twists and heroic revelations. Peter has composed an outstanding score that deftly weaves all these elements together into a warm blanket for the game. It was truly an honor to share this adventure with him and the Broken Age team!

From Brian Min - Studio Audio Director

Production of the Broken Age soundtrack represented in many ways the challenges that today's composers and musicians face. While shrinking budget have led to increased use of samples, Peter clearly shows us that recording real musicians performing live can have emotional impact that can't be matched by any technology today. I am so thankful to Broken Age for giving me the gift of this realization and a renewed passion our craft!
